Michael Balasek is currently in his seventh year with the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Sonoma State University in 2015-16.

Balasek has been the Academic Advisor for the department since 2015.  Prior to his current position, Balasek served as the Compliance and Student-Athlete Academic Advisor from 2013 through 2015, and prior to that as the Compliance Coordinator from 2009 through 2013.

Before joining the Seawolves, Balasek spent time as a Bronco at Boise State University, externing through Pepperdine University School of Law as a Legal Research Associate in BSU’s Office of the General Council in 2008, before serving as the Graduate Assistant for Compliance in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics from 2008 through 2009.

A graduate of California State University, Chico, Balasek earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy with an emphasis in Legal Advising and a minor in Ethics.  In addition to overseeing CLIC, a non-profit legal information center, Balasek was a track & field student-athlete for the Wildcats, specializing in the 110m and 400m hurdles.
 
Balasek earned his Master’s Degree in Physical Education, Athletic Administration from Idaho State University in 2014.
