Men's Golf Finishes 2nd At Chico Tournament

Chris Galvin moved up to eighth place for SSU on Tuesday
CHICO, Calif-  NAIA power Wayland Baptist came from behind to nip Sonoma State by one stroke for the team championship at the InterWest Wildcat Invitational on Tuesday afternoon in Chico.  The Seawolves still have not lost to an NCAA Division II team this season.

Jarin Todd finished in a tie for second place after posting a 72-73-74--219.  Wayland Baptist's Michael Loppnow edged him by a single stroke (218) for the title.

SSU's Jacob O'Keefe was one stroke behind Todd (69-77-74--220) in fourth place overall.  Chris Galvin moved up to eighth place (77-75-72--224) and Kyle Hopkins finished in ninth in 74-75-76--225.

The Seawolves, as a team, shot 887 for the tournament.  Wayland Baptist is the sixth-ranked NAIA team in the nation.

In three tournaments this fall, SSU has finished first once and second twice.  Both second place finishes came to teams outside of Division II.  The Seawolves finished a full 17 strokes ahead of the next NCAA Division II team, host Chico State.

The Seawolves will host the SSU Invitational at Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club next week.
