ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Sonoma State got wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles by
Andy Muesse and
Connor Olson, but it wouldn't be enough as the Seawolves fell to UC Santa Cruz, the No. 1 ranked NCAA Division III school in the nation, 7-2. The Seawolves fall to 7-10 on the season.
Not to be lost in the defeat were two outstanding efforts by the Seawolves' top two.
Andy Muesse earned a 7-5, 6-1 win over Jared Kamel, the nation's No. 4 ranked D-III singles player. Olson won 7-6 (2), 6-3 over Max Ortiz, a player who defeated him 6-1, 6-1 a year ago.
UC Santa Cruz took all three doubles matches, though they had to struggle to win at No. 3, defeating Logan Baily and
Jordan Smith, making his Seawolf debut, 8-6.
The Seawolves are back in action on April 11th against Santa Clara.
