Seniors Catton and Webster with family and coaches before Sunday's match.
ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Sophomore Katie Parucha scored the eventual game-winning goal just 10 seconds before halftime, helping Sonoma State end its season on a high note with a 2-1 victory over visiting Humboldt State on Sunday afternoon on Senior Day at the Seawolf Soccer Field. The Seawolves end 2009 with a 8-9-3 record overall and 6-7-3 in the CCAA. The Lumberjacks also saw their season end on Sunday, finishing 8-9-3 and 5-8-3.

"It was a great way to end the season and a great way to go out for (seniors) Lindsay (Catton) and Tracy Webster", head coach Luke Oberkirch said following the match. "We played much better today than we did on Friday night (at Humboldt State)."

In the 13th minute, senior Lindsay Catton dropped a perfect corner kick into the goal box that got up and over Humboldt State goalkeeper Kelly Sandberg. Sophomore Kiley Brown fought her way through the defense and put the ball into the net for the 1-0 Sonoma State lead at 12:11.

Just three minutes later, the Lumberjacks' Gracie Gartrell found Katie Forba running in behind the Seawolf defense and Forba went 1v1 with Sonoma State netminder Alexis Sciacqua and found the net for the equalizer at 15:25.

The match continued to go back and forth but the Seawolves drew a foul with under a minute remaining before halftime and Catton once again served the ball into the box where a scrum ensued but Parucha was there to finish at 44:50, giving the Seawolves the 2-1 lead at halftime.

Humboldt State came out and dominated the offensive end of the field in the second half, outshooting the Seawolves 9-3 (15-8 for the match) but Sciacqua came up big with four saves in the final half to secure the 2-1 season-ending victory for Sonoma State.

"I think we can take a lot of positives from this season and look forward to improving for next year," Oberkirch reflected.

Brown had a team-high two shots in the victory, including the goal that got the Seawolves started. Sciacqua made five saves.

For Humboldt State, Kim Carroll and Forba led the Lumberjacks with three shots and Sandberg made one save between the posts.

It was the final collegiate soccer match for Catton and Webster, who were honored in a pre-game ceremony. Catton ends her storied Sonoma State career with 17 career goals and 14 assists, including the two assists on Sunday afternoon.

"The coaching staff is very proud of the committment that Lindsay and Tracy have made to the program over the past four years," Oberkirch added. "They will truly be missed."
