SAN BERNARDINO, Calif- Another cold shooting performance on Saturday night resulted in Sonoma State's 58-47 loss to Cal State San Bernardino in CCAA women's basketball action at Coussoulis Arena in San Bernardino. The Seawolves fall for the eighth time in their last nine games and see their record tumble to 9-16, 5-13 CCAA. The Coyotes improve to 10-14, 8-10 CCAA.
Though the Seawolves have slid toward the bottom of the CCAA standings over the last month or so, they are still in contention for a CCAA Tournament booth. Sonoma is just one game behind Cal State Monterey Bay and San Francisco State, both teams they split with this season, in the race for the eighth and final spot.
The Seawolves rallied from an 18-8 first half deficit to go on a 21-6 run to take a five-point halftime lead (29-24). Unfortunately, their shooting went ice cold in the second half as they connected on just four of their 23 field goal attempts (17%). The Coyotes, on the other hand, made 11 of their 26 attempts (42%).
Lauren Redfield led the Seawolves with 12 points.
Olivia Larkin neared her team-high total with 11 points off the bench in 17 minutes of play.
Lisa Takata paced the Coyotes with 15 points to go along with five steals. Krystal Urzua added 13 points and Jaclyn Rainville finished with 10 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks.
The Seawolves will bring the regular season to a close next week when they host Cal State Dominguez Hills (Thursday) and Cal State L.A. (Friday).
