SANTA CRUZ, Calif- The Sonoma State men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to perennial power UC Santa Cruz on Saturday in Santa Cruz. The Seawolves drop to 0-2 on the season.
In doubles, the Banana Slugs jumped out to a dominating 3-0 advantage by taking all three doubles matches. The only close match for the Seawolves was at the No. 1 slot, where
Connor Olson and
Jordan Smith lost a 9-8 decision to Max Liberty-Point and Ilya Gendelman.
Jeremy Heckley posted the only victory for Sonoma in singles, dispatching Silvio Chiba at the No. 5 position 6-3, 6-4.
Sonoma's planned Sunday match with Cal Lutheran was rained out.
