ROHNERT PARK, Calif- One day after playing the ninth-ranked NCAA Division III school in the country, the Sonoma State men's tennis team took on sixth-ranked UC Santa Cruz, falling 9-0 at the Banana Slugs' home court on Saturday afternoon. The loss sends the Seawolves to 1-11 on the season.
In doubles play, the Seawolves' No. 1 team of
Taylor Bianco and
Daniel Henke played well before falling to the region's top-ranked Division III squad, 8-5.
Bianco and
Stewart Hutton came up with strong efforts in singles action, though their matches were shortened to tiebreakers because the team decision was already reached. Bianco fell to Brian Pybas, the west region's top ranked D-III singles player, by a score of 3-6, 6-4 (10-7). Hutton dropped a 5-7, 6-4 (11-9) decision.
The Seawolves will host Foothill College in a scrimmage on April 6th. They return to regular season action two days later in Reno against the University of Nevada.
