GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Fresh of its first victory of the season on Thursday, the Sonoma State men's tennis team rode its momentum and swept all three doubles matches on Friday before Matt Roberts, Greg Eckstedt and Vincent Paganetti earned wins in singles play to clinch the 6-3 win over Hawai'i-Hilo at the Paseo Racquet Center in Glendale, Ariz.  SSU improves to 2-2 this season.

The duos of Roberts/Daniel Henke and Drexler Dy/Jimmy Manning grabbed hard-fought 8-6 wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions and the pairing of David Hutton and Seth Hein completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 decision.

The tables would turn at the start of the singles competition, however, as Hawai'i-Hilo won a pair of matches at the No. 2 and No. 4 spots, defeating Dy (5-7, 6-4, 10-7) and Henke (6-4, 6-3) to pull the match within one point at 3-2.  Eckstedt would put the Seawolves back up by two with a 6-3, 6-4 win at the No. 5 spot, but a 6-4, 6-4 loss suffered by Hutton would keep the Vulcans close.  Then, thanks to a thrilling 3-6, 6-3, 10-4 comeback win by Roberts, Sonoma State would clinch the win.  Paganetti also played a tough match, but came out on top (5-7, 6-3, 10-7).

Sonoma State will be back in action on Saturday when it takes on Western New Mexico at the Arrowhead Tennis Center in Glendale, Ariz., beginning at Noon.
