BOX SCORE No. 20 Sonoma State 2, Humboldt State 0 -- Box Score

ARCATA, Calif.
--  JJ McFarlin found the net just six and a half minutes into the match on Friday afternoon as Sonoma State earned a 2-0 road win at Humboldt State in CCAA women's soccer play.  Cara Curtin would score an insurance goal and Sara Studer was credited with the assist on both strikes as the 20th-ranked Seawolves bounced back from their first loss of the season with their fourth shutout of the year.  Sonoma improves to 8-1-0 while Humboldt drops to 1-4-0.

This game will not count towards the conference standings as Humboldt State was ruled ineligible due to their forfeiting of games early in the season.

The Seawolves jumped into the lead midway through the seventh minute when Sara Studer's corner sailed towards McFarlin, who booted it past the keeper to the near post.  It was the third goal of the season for McFarlin and the fourth time this season that the Seawolves have scored in the first seven minutes of a game.

Sonoma State would continue the pressure throughout the first half before Curtin broke through with a breakaway goal.  It was the ninth of the season for Curtin who now has as many goals this season as any SSU player has had since Shannon Rake netted 10 in 2000 (Lindsay Catton also had nine goals, in 2008).  Curtin has scored goals in six of the Seawolves' nine games.

The Seawolves out-shot the Lumberjacks 17-9 in the match and they had a decisive advantage in corner kicks, 10-2.

Alexis Sciacqua recorded her 14th career shutout, tying her with Alisa Murchison (1992-95) for sixth place on the all-time list.

The Seawolves will now head over to Chico State for a rematch with defending west region champion Chico State.  The Seawolves beat the Wildcats 2-1 just last Friday in Rohnert Park.
