BOX SCORE Sonoma State 4, Cal State Monterey Bay 0 -- Box Score

SEASIDE, Calif.
-- Junior Cara Curtin continued her impressive debut by scoring two goals and assisting on another as the Sonoma State women's soccer team stayed perfect with a 4-0 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday afternoon in Seaside.  The 17th-ranked Seawolves also got a goal and an assist from Sara Studer and Margi Osmundson in a dominating road performance.  Sonoma improves to 3-0-0, 1-0-0 CCAA on the season as they enjoy their best start since 2008.  The Otters tasted defeat for the first time this year, falling to 2-1-0, 0-1-0 CCAA.

The Seawolves have now scored 10 goals in just three games this season.  That total represents nearly half of their tally from 2011 (22) and is just one off their mark for the entire 2010 season (11).

As refreshing as the offense has been, the defense deserves its share of credit as well.  The Seawolves held the Otters to just four shots on Friday and have yielded just two goals in 270 minutes of play this season.

After a rather quiet first half hour, the Seawolves got rolling in the 33rd minute when Studer sent a cross from the left side to Osmundson, who blasted it past the goalkeeper.  The lead would stay at one for just over two minutes, as early in the 36th Osmundson was in the middle of another score.  This time the redshirt freshman found Curtin, who was streaking to the goal on a breakaway to make it 2-0.

Curtin's second goal of the afternoon came in the 52nd minute off an assist from Elena Catania.  That goal made it 3-0 and, for all intents and purposes, put the game out of reach.  The capper came in the 69th when Curtin sent a ball across the mouth of the goal to Studer, who tapped it in.

Alexis Sciacqua was solid in goal, making a save on her way to the 11th shutout of her career.

The Seawolves will try to extend their streak to four straight on Sunday when they travel to Hayward to take on Cal State East Bay.
