SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- The Sonoma State women's basketball team saw its 2012-13 season come to an end on Friday after a 59-41 loss to host Cal State San Bernardino at Coussoulis Arena. The Seawolves finish 10th in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) standings with a 7-15 mark in conference play and a 9-17 record overall. The Coyotes (13-13, 11-11 CCAA) will head into the CCAA tournament as the No. 7 seed.
It was an extremely tight contest in the opening half as neither team led by more than three points at any time, which led to four ties and 11 lead changes. It would be Cal State San Bernardino, though, to hold the narrow halftime lead at 25-24.
At 15:26 in the second half,
Taylor Acosta hit a jumper to knot the game at 31-31, but a layin by CSUSB's Kristen Huffman 15 seconds later spurred a 14-2 run that SSU was never able to recover from the rest of the way.
The Seawolves were held to just 36 percent from the floor (18-50), including 21.4 percent (3-14) from the three-point arc.
Kristina Fahey and
Brianna Burgos led the way with nine points each and
Taylor Vigil added six points and six rebounds in her final collegiate game.
The Coyotes were led by the 13 points and 13 rebounds from Adriana Brodie, followed by 12 points from Eliza Dy and 11 from Jaslyn Cosey. As a team, CSUSB connected on 21 of 58 shots, including 8 of 16 from long range.
