SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.
--  Sophomore Brenton Frame opened his 2013 account in the 22nd minute to give Sonoma State all the scoring they'd need in a 1-0 win over San Francisco State on Friday afternoon in the city by the bay.  The Seawolves (2-0-1, 1-0-0 CCAA) have scored a single goal in each of their three games this year, but thanks to an air tight defensive effort, they remain unbeaten with two wins and one tie to their name.  San Francisco State falls to 1-2-0, 0-1-0 CCAA.

The Seawolves have now won 11 of their last 12 road games at San Francisco State and are 12-1-1 at Cox Stadium since 1998.

"That was a solid win for us.  San Francisco State is very good and is going to win some games this year," said head coach Marcus Ziemer following Sonoma's triumph.

Frame's goal came nearly halfway through the first 45.  Aaron Glover was credited with an assist after playing the ball down toward the corner and slotting a pass to Frame right in front of the goal.  The sophomore's subsequent boot to the upper right from several feet out put the Seawolves up 1-0.

"We kept the ball pretty well and generated some good chances," said Ziemer.  "We need to keep working on getting the second goal."

Sonoma got solid play out of their defense, including goalkeeper Beau Diaz.  The Gators were able to get off 14 shots, nearly as many as the Seawolves' 15, but many were off target and Diaz made five saves, four of them in the second half, to preserve his second shutout of the season.

The game was physical, as you'd expect against two longtime rivals coached by former college teammates.  Six yellows (three apiece) and 26 fouls were accumulated over the course of the game.

Friday's victory marked the third straight year that the Seawolves have captured their conference opener.

The Seawolves will continue south to close out the weekend when they take on a much-improved Cal State Monterey Bay side on Sunday in Seaside.  The Otters are 3-0-0 on the season after a 5-3 win over Humboldt State on Friday.  Said Ziemer, "We need to re-group and get ready for Sunday.  The Otters will be a good test for us."
