BOX SCORE No. 24 Cal Poly Pomona 83, Sonoma State 57 -- Box Score
POMONA, Calif. -- Sophomore
Tanner Adams had a huge night, draining six three-pointers on her way to a career-high 22 points, but it wouldn't be enough as Sonoma State fell to a hot Cal Poly Pomona squad 87-53 on Saturday night in Pomona. The 24th-ranked Broncos, winners of nine of their last ten, move into sole possession of first place in the CCAA at 7-1 (10-2 overall). The Seawolves see their record drop to 2-10, 1-7 CCAA.
A Seattle native, Adams made it rain from long distance, finishing her night 8-of-11 from the field and 6-of-9 from three-point range. She easily surpassed her career-high of 15 points, set February 8, 2013 against Cal State Stanislaus.
As successful as Adams was, she alone couldn't keep up with a Bronco attack that featured four in double figures. Cal Poly Pomona shot 48.5% as a team and was 8-of-14 on three-pointers as they nearly matched their season-high for points in a game (88).
Molly Kommer also had an efficient night for the Seawolves, shooting 4-of-6 on her way to nine points.
Sydney Bennett snagged a team-high five rebounds.
Following a stretch that saw Sonoma play four straight on the road, and five of their last six away from home, they'll play in The Wolves' Den for the first time in 2014 next Friday when they host UC San Diego.
