GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Matt Roberts,
Daniel Holz and
Vincent Paganetti picked up wins in singles play, but the Sonoma State men's tennis team suffered a 6-3 loss to Western New Mexico on Sunday to wrap up its annual trip to Arizona. The Seawolves fall to 1-4 this season.
Sonoma dropped all three doubles matches, but
Seth Hein and
Jimmy Manning gave their opponents at No. 3 doubles a run for their money before falling 9-8 (3). In singles play, Roberts (6-4, 7-6 (5)), Holz (6-3, 6-4) and Paganetti (6-0, 6-2) took wins at No. 1, 3 and 6 singles, respectively, but the Mustangs clinched the match win by taking victories in the other three singles competitions.
Sonoma State will take a two week break before hosting Whittier on Mar. 2 at the SSU Tennis Courts in Rohnert Park.
