ROHNERT PARK -- The Sonoma State men's tennis team saw its three-match losing streak come to an end on Senior Day Saturday with a 7-2 victory over visiting Holy Names at the SSU Tennis Courts in Rohnert Park.
Seniors
Matt Roberts,
Jimmy Manning and
Seth Hein played their final collegiate home match on Saturday against the Hawks, all winning their matches. Roberts teamed up with
Philip Holbrook to hold off Andrew Amor and Rafael Martinez, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles. Manning and Hein dispatched Brooke Workeneh and Tracy Beblie, 8-3, at No. 2.
In singles play, Roberts,
Logan Liddell and
Vincent Paganetti battled for straight-set wins at No. 1, 5 and 6 singles, respectively, and at No. 2 singles, Holbrook worked overtime to defeat his opponent, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.
The 50th-ranked Seawolves ended the 2014 regular season with a 10-11 record, a seven-win improvement from last season, and will head to Arizona for the Pacific West Conference Championships this upcoming weekend (Apr. 15-17). The Hawks fell to 7-11, but will also compete in this weekend's PacWest tournament.
