Men's Tennis Comes Up Short In Upset Bid Against #11 UCSD

Robert Henry pushed his opponent to a tiebreaker in set one on Sunday.

#11 UC San Diego 9, #50 Sonoma State 0

FRESNO, Calif. --
Despite several close matches, Sonoma State dropped their third contest of the weekend on Sunday, falling to 11th-ranked UC San Diego 9-0 at the Haak Tennis Complex on the campus of Fresno Pacific.  The Seawolves, ranked 50th in the nation, fall to 9-11 overall as they head into their final regular season match before play opens at Pac West Championships later this month.

Sonoma State dropped all three doubles matches, but play at No. 1 and No. 3 was relatively tight with the Tritons prevailing 8-4 and 8-5, respectively.

The Seawolves' best shot in singles play came at the top of the ladder.  Holbrook, playing in the top spot for Matt Roberts (who only played doubles) lost 7-5, 6-4.  Daniel Holz saw his day end with a tough 7-5, 7-5 loss at the No. 2 position.

Robert Henry, at No. 3, also made things uneasy for his competition before falling 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.

In all the Seawolves won 41 games in singles play against the Tritons.
