Women's Hoops Lose Exhibition Opener At San Jose State

SAN JOSE, Calif. --
Freshman Kim Savio went for 13 points and nine rebounds and sophomore Madison Burroughs added nine points, but the Sonoma State women's basketball team lost 84-61 to host San Jose State in exhibition action Sunday at The Event Center in San Jose. 

The NCAA Division I Spartans led from start to finish, outshooting the Division II Seawolves 36.6 to 34.3.  In fact, San Jose State fired 93 shots (34-93), 47 of which were taken from beyond the 3-point arc (10-47).  Sonoma took 67 shots (23-67), attempting 18 from long range (2-18).

The Seawolves will play one more exhibition game on Saturday at Pacific (2:00 pm) before opening the regular season on Nov. 13 against Holy Names as part of the CCAA/PacWest Challenge in Chico.
