ROHNERT PARK -- Daniel Holz and Blaine Mengert scored victories at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively, but the 43rd-ranked Sonoma State men's tennis team suffered a 7-2 loss to 42nd-ranked Point Loma on Tuesday afternoon at the SSU Tennis Courts in Rohnert Park.  The Seawolves fell to 1-8 while the Sea Lions improved to 6-5.

Holz and Mengert won by almost identical scores -- Holz defeated James Tenbroeck 6-4, 7-5 while Mengert knocked off Daniel Milliken 6-3, 7-5.  Garret Gooch nearly pulled off a win at No. 5 singles after a convincing 6-2 score in the first set, but CJ Erion stole the victory away with 7-6 (4) and 11-9 triumphs in the second set and the 10-point tiebreaker, respectively.

Point Loma, after winning all three doubles matches by a score of 8-5, also earned victories in straight sets at No. 1, 2 and 6 to put a cap on the 7-2 win.

Sonoma State will next travel to Colorado for three matches, beginning with a Mar. 20 contest with Colorado State-Pueblo.  The Seawolves will play their next home match on Mar. 24 against Hawaii Hilo at 2:00 pm.
