PUEBLO, Colo. -- With a 2-1 lead and momentum entering singles play,
Vincent Paganetti put the exclamation point on the day with his straight-set win at No. 6, helping the 43rd-ranked Sonoma State men's tennis team upset No. 38 Colorado Mesa, 7-2, on Saturday in Pueblo, Colo., handing the Mavericks (8-3) just their third loss of the season. The Seawolves have improved to 3-8 with two wins on their annual trip to Colorado thus far.
The pairing of
Blaine Mengert and
Logan Liddell sprinted past their opponents at No. 2 doubles with an 8-3 win before
Sullivan Roche and
Matt Weeber put SSU up 2-1 with an 8-6 dispatching of their counterparts at No. 3.
In singles action,
Daniel Holz (6-3, 6-1) and
Garret Gooch (6-1, 6-0) put the Seawolves up 4-1 in the match before Paganetti clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win. It wouldn't stop there, however, as
