LA JOLLA, Calif. -- The Sonoma State men's tennis team will have to wait a little bit longer for their first win of the season as 16th-ranked UC San Diego rolled to a 9-0 win at the Northview Courts in La Jolla.
It was the ninth consecutive loss for the Seawolves, who were ranked 9th in the latest ITA west region rankings. Â UC San Diego, ranked 16th nationally and 2nd regionally, improves to 7-3.
The Seawolves' best chance for a point came at No. 3 doubles, where the team of
Daniel Holz and
Kevin To battled before falling 9-8 (7-3). Â
Christian Francisco and
Sullivan Roche also put up a fight at No. 2 before the Tritons pulled away for an 8-5 win.
In singles play,
Logan Liddell took eight games off his competitor at No. 3 singles, falling 6-4, 6-4. Â
The Seawolves will head to Azusa on Saturday to take on Western New Mexico in neutral court action.
