SAN RAFAEL, Calif. -- Blaine Mengert scored a 5-7, 6-3, 10-4 victory at No. 5 singles for his second straight win at that position, but the Sonoma State men's tennis team lost 8-1 to No. 40 Hawaii Hilo on Sunday afternoon at the Castellucci Tennis Center in San Rafael.
The Seawolves, who upset 45th-ranked Holy Names a day earlier, fell to 1-8 on the year. The Vulcans improved to 7-8.
Sonoma State will head to the state of Colorado next weekend for four matches beginning at Colorado Christian on Friday in Lakewood, Colo.
