HAYWARD, Calif. — Despite working their way out to a two-possession game early in the second half, Sonoma State was stifled in the final ten minutes of play by Cal State East Bay, who secured a 77-66 victory Tuesday night.

After trailing by five early in the first period, Hickman and Lewayne Grant put up five points, sparking a 14-5 Sonoma State run over the next 3:45 to put the Seawolves up 20-15.
However, the Pioneers immediately countered with a run of their own, going 16-2 over the next 6:40 to work their way out to a nine-point lead with 3:05 remaining in the first half. The teams entered the half with the score 37-30 in favor of the host but the Seawolves worked their way back into the game in the second half.
With 12:39 remaining in the game, Sonoma State had turned a seven-point deficit into a four-point lead. The visitors held their slim lead for a couple minutes but eventually the Pioneers closed out the night at an 11-point margin, 77-66.
With the loss, the Seawolves move to 4-7 and 2-5 in CCAA play. They return to action against Cal State San Bernardino this Friday night at 7:30pm from the Wolves' Den.
