Seawolves Sweep Day 1 at Phoenix Invitational

PHOENIX, Ariz. -- The Seawolves Men's Tennis team traveled down to Phoenix, Arizona for the Phoenix Invitational. Over the course of three days the Seawolves will play four games with Sonoma State wrapping up their first two with wins on Friday.
 
Match 1: Western New Mexico

In the first match of the Invitational the Seawolves took on the Mustangs of Western New Mexico. The Seawolves won the match 9-0. The Seawolves improved to 3-2 while the Mustangs fell to 2-3. The Seawolves won the first three double matches and jumped out to a demanding 3-0 lead only needing to secure one singles victory to win the match. Alec Wong clinched the match with his single 6 victory over David Valles (6-0, 6-2). Only two singles matches went into three sets, with the other four only needing two sets.

Match 2: Colorado Mesa

In the second match of the Invitational the Seawolves took on the Mavericks of Colorado Mesa. The Seawolves won the match 7-2. The Seawolves improved to 4-2 and the Mavericks fell to 3-8. The Seawolves won two of the three doubles matches and went into singles play winning 2-1. In the second match Sean Alves played singles 1 against Nick Farmen (6-1, 6-0) and finished first in the singles matches. Victory was clinched when Max Nudell took on Alain Dela Basticle in singles 3 (7-5, 6-4).

The Seawolves look to continue their success in Arizona tomorrow when they take on St. Edwards. First serve will be served at 9AM.
