FRESNO, Calif. -- After opening the season with a three-game sweep of Holy Names, the Sonoma State Seawolves continued their unbeaten start to the season with a statement 14-2 win at Fresno Pacific Friday night.
The Seawolves put runs on the board in six of nine innings, including a five-run sixth, and benefited from a 5 RBI performance from
Jake Sahagian.
Following a pair of walks and a single in the top of the sixth,
Alex Emerick came in to score on a passed ball, before
Bryce Nagata walked on four straight balls. With the bases loaded and only one out, Sahagian crushed a ball down the right field line for a grand-slam, collecting four of his eventual five RBI in a single swing.
Dominic Garihan earned the win, his first of the season, with five shut-out, one-hit innings, striking out four along the way.
Michael Warning allowed a run in each of his two innings of work, before
Nicolas Vega came in for the eighth and ninth to retire all six batters he faced.
The Seawolves return to action tomorrow to complete the three-game series in Fresno. First pitch is slated for 11 a.m.
