Pomona, Calif. – The Seawolves took to the road Friday evening for a California Collegiate Athletic Associations (CCAA) match against the Broncos of Cal Poly Pomona.
The Broncos knocked off Sonoma State 3-0 (25-12, 26-24, 25-21) on Friday afternoon in the Seawolves first conference road match.
SET BY SET: Things were back-and-forth in the opening set until the home team took control. With the frame tied 19-9, Cal Poly closed out the proceedings on a 6-2 scoring spurt. In the second frame, the Broncos never trailed after Sonoma's first opening point. The Seawolves tied the score 10 times, including 24-24, but couldn't break free as the Broncos went up two sets.
A similar story unfolded in the third set. Cal Poly held a 22-18 lead but the Seawolves closed the gap to 22-21 but couldn't get over the hump. The home team scored three of the last six points to seal the match.

AGAINST CAL POLY PONOMA: The all-time series moves to 26-22 in favor of the Seawolves. Sonoma State has won 17 of the last 19 matches.
