ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The Sonoma State volleyball dominated the Seawolf Classic, losing only one set the entire tournament and going undefeated on the weekend. The Seawolves capped off the great weekend with a 3-0 sweep of Dominican, winning sets 25-13, 25-12 and 25-18.
Sophomore
Kaili Spooner started the first set with two vicious kills to set the tone for the match, she would finish with a career high five kills on the day. The two teams went back and forth to make it 7-6 but the Seawolves turned it on from there, winning six straight points to extend their lead to 13-6. Dominican was able to come within striking distance at 17-13 but SSU answered with eight straight points to win the set.
The Seawolves and Penguins traded the first four points to make it 2-2 before Sonoma State cleaned it up and went on a run to make it 11-4. Freshman
Abri Rogers would make her presence felt immediately going 2 for 2 on kill attempts making it 17-8. From there Sonoma went on a 9-2 run to cruise to victory in the second set.
In the third set the Seawolves once again found themselves leading 8-2 but just as quickly the Penguins rallied back with five straight points to cut the deficit to one. After a few miscues Dominican would take its first and only lead of the match 18-17. Sonoma would stomp that fire out quickly, winning the last eight points to take the set 25-18 and win the match 3-0.

Jen Trephan had a team leading ten kills and three aces, junior
Riley Beyma and freshman
Kaden Young added two aces of their own. Junior
Jaden Krist, the team leader in kills, had a solid night as well with eight kills and one ace.
Sonoma State improved to 7-1 on the season with their lone loss at the hands of ranked Western Washington. The Seawolves will be back in The Wolves' Den on Thursday September 8 at 5 p.m. against Cal State San Marcos to begin CCAA conference play.
