Bailey Nets Hat Trick In 5-0 Win Over Humboldt

Andrew Bailey has scored 51 goals in his career at Sonoma State
ARCATA, Calif-  Senior Andrew Bailey collected his first hat trick of the season as Sonoma State rolled over Humboldt State 5-0 on Sunday afternoon in Arcata.  The 16th-ranked Seawolves improve to 12-2-1, 7-1-2 CCAA on the season.  The Lumberjacks slip to 7-5-4, 2-5-3 CCAA.

The Seawolves are currently riding a three-game winning streak in which they've outscored their opponents 11-0. 

Bailey scored the first three goals of the game.  He was joined in the goal-scoring party by Mark Wiedeman and Taylor Jones, a goalkeeper making only his second appearance in the field.

Bailey's first netter came in the 26th minute when he hit a header from Nathan Medina past an oncoming goalkeeper.  Ross Middlemiss and Jack Jones teamed up for the assist on goal number two as Bailey scored on a through ball.  It was the 50th goal of Bailey's Sonoma State career.  The third goal came from a one-timer off a free kick by Eric Lafon in the 62nd minute. 

Bailey is the school's all-time leader in goals scored with 51.  He is also the school's all-time leader in shots attempted (241) and points scored (122). 

Lafon picked up another assist on the Seawolves' fourth goal, by Wiedeman, in the 76th.  The goal allowed him to pass Andrew Ziemer and move into third place all-time at SSU with 25 assists. 

Jones' goal came with under a minute remaining off a double assist by Middlemiss and Mike Duncan.

The Seawolves thoroughly dominated play on Sunday, out shooting the Lumberjacks 29-10 and holding a 7-1 edge in corner kicks. 

Brook Johnson recorded his fifth shutout in the last six games.  It is his seventh shutout of the season. 

The Seawolves will try to keep rolling next weekend when they travel to Cal State Monterey Bay and San Francisco State.
