Big Second Half Leads To 4-0 Win Over Tritons

LA JOLLA, Calif-  Senior Mark Wiedeman tied the school record with three assists and Ben Langwith scored twice to lead Sonoma State to an impressive 4-0 road victory over UC San Diego on Friday night.  The win pushes the sixth-ranked Seawolves to 9-1-2, 4-0-2 CCAA.  The Tritons drop to 6-3-1, 3-3-1 CCAA.

It was second consecutive shutout win for the Seawolves, pushing their unbeaten streak to six games in a row. 

After nearly 70 minutes of scoreless action, the Seawolves finally broke through when Langwith scored off a pass from the corner by Wiedeman.  That strike set the Seawolves loose on a scoring outburst that would see them find net three more times in the next nineteen minutes. 

Langwith would make it 2-0 with his second goal of the game just 1:48 after his first.  Again, the assist came from Wiedeman from the left corner.

In the 77th minute, Nathan Medina got on the board with his fifth goal of the season off a double assist from Cam Vickers and Wiedeman. 

The scoring would be capped with just four seconds left when Alan Grady picked up his second goal of the season off an assist from freshman Davide Furtado

The Seawolves out shot the Tritons 16-10 in the game, taking a eight shots in each half.  Brook Johnson was solid in the net, making three saves en route to his fourth shutout of the season.

The Seawolves will try to keep up their impressive play on Sunday when they travel to Carson to battle No. 11 Cal State Dominguez Hills.
