ARCATA, Calif-
Chad Chambers had a breakout game with 18 points and 12 rebounds as Sonoma State rolled past Simpson University 75-45 on Saturday night at the DeBeni Holiday Classic in Arcata. The win snaps a four-game losing streak as the Seawolves go to 4-5 on the year.
Ben Washington got the Seawolves off to a quick start, scoring 13 of his 15 points in the first half to help Sonoma build a 38-16 lead at the break. Chambers came on strong late in the first half and into the second as he finished with career-highs of 18 points and 12 rebounds for his first double-double in a Sonoma State uniform.
Steven Pratt posted 16 points and was named as Sonoma State's lone representative on the All-Tournament team.
Mike Nelson also came up big with 13 points and a career-high nine rebounds.
Simpson struggled all night, shooting just 28% for the game. They were, however, weary after playing their third game in as many days. Sonoma State held a commanding 52-27 edge in rebounding.
Three of Sonoma State's four wins this year have come by more than 25 points.
The Seawolves are off until January 2nd when they host Cal State Monterey Bay.
