TURLOCK, Calif- A first half goal by
Tracy Webster held up on Sunday afternoon as Sonoma State took a road victory from No. 24 Cal State Stanislaus by a 1-0 margin. The win lifts the Seawolves to 5-1-0, 1-0-0 CCAA on the season. The Warriors drop to 4-1-1, 0-1-0 CCAA.
Though the Warriors had several opportunities early, it would be the Seawolves capitalizing when Webster punched the ball past the keeper off a double assist by freshman
Kiley Brown and
Taylor Edmonds.
It was the fourth goal of the season for Webster, a sophomore from Sebastopol, tying her for the team lead with
Alexica Bosque.
The Seawolves would be out shot 8-4 in the first half, but they stepped up the pressure in the second, out shooting the Warriors 6-3 in an attempt to get an insurance goal. That goal would not come, but it would not matter as goalkeeper
Courtney Grixti and the defensive unit of
Lindsay Catton,
Maddy Drake, and
Allison Kern, among others held strong.
The Seawolves return home next weekend when they host San Francisco State and Cal State Monterey Bay.
