CARSON, Calif- Cal State Dominguez Hills looked every bit the conference front runner on Saturday night, turning in a 79-56 win over Sonoma State in CCAA action at the Torodome in Carson. The Seawolves drop their third straight and go to 7-10, 3-7 CCAA. The Toros remain tied for first in the league at 14-3, 8-2 CCAA.
The Seawolves stayed within striking distance for the first ten minutes of the first half, trailing by just four at 15-11. From there, the Toros went on a 19-0 run to open up a 34-11 lead. The Seawolves would trail by 23 at the break and though they'd stay even in the second half (36-36), they were unable to cut into the lead.
Ben Washington led the Seawolves in scoring with ten points.
Mike Nelson supplied nine points and
Gerred Link was the team leader with six rebounds.
The Toros got 15 points from Jerrell Smith and 14 from Robert Willhite. They hit eight three-pointers and shot at a 61.3% clip for the night.
Next up for Sonoma State is a home game against Humboldt State on Wednesday evening.
