ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Britney Vance scored in the 84th minute on Friday afternoon to lead Cal State Dominguez Hills to a 1-0 victory over Sonoma State in CCAA women's soccer action at Seawolf Field.  The loss was the first home defeat of the season for the Seawolves as they see their season mark drop to 5-6-2, 3-4-2 CCAA.  The Toros, ranked eighth in the NCAA West Region, improve to 8-6-0, 7-4-0 CCAA.

Each of the Seawolves' six losses this season have come by a single goal.

The teams would play a fairly slow-paced first half with only eight shots attempted between the sides.  Play picked up in the second 45 with the Toros pushing back on a 'bend, but don't break' Sonoma defense.

After playing overtime in each of their last three home games, the Seawolves appeared to be heading to another extra period before CSUDH finally broke through.

The game's lone goal would come at the 83:19 mark when Jessica Murphy's cross from the right side was met by Vance, who slid behind the Sonoma defense and booted it in.

Sonoma State had an opportunity to score in the waning moments, but a breakaway shot by Tracy Webster went just over the goal.

Alyssa Congdon earned the shutout for the Toros, though, in a credit to her defensive line, she did not have to make a save.  Alexis Sciacqua of Sonoma State made four saves in the defeat.

The Toros held a 16-9 overall advantage in shots taken, but the Seawolves led 6-1 in corners, several of which came in the final five minutes.  Fouls were fairly even (11-10 in favor of CSUDH) and both teams drew one yellow card.

The Seawolves look to rebound on Sunday, though the task will be tall as the 21st-ranked Cal State L.A. Golden Eagles come to town.

Box Score:  Cal State Dominguez Hills 1, Sonoma State 0
