Women's Basketball Dumped By Gators, 56-37

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif-  Hindered by their lowest scoring output of the season, Sonoma State lost to San Francisco State 56-37 on Friday evening at the Main Gymnasium in San Francisco.  The loss deals a blow to the Seawolves' tournament aspirations as they drop to ninth place, one game out of the eighth and final berth.  Sonoma State is now 8-12, 4-9 CCAA. The Gators go to 11-9, 5-8 CCAA.

It was the fourth straight loss for the Seawolves, who shot a season-low 25.9% from the field.  The Gators led from wire-to-wire on Friday, jetting to a 4-0 lead in the first two minutes, then spreading the lead to as many as 18 in the first half.

The Gators would not let off the gas in the second half, pushing the margin to 21 before settling on the 19-point victory.

Stephanie Barnes led the Seawolves with nine points.  No other Seawolf had more than six points.  Marie Sweet was tops on the team with five rebounds.

Donisha Tate had 12 points and 15 rebounds to pace the Gators.  Desiree Butler was the team's high scorer with 17 points.

Friday night's result was the largest Gator victory over the Seawolves since 1996 and only their third win over Sonoma in the last decade.

The Seawolves will try to rebound on Saturday when they head down the coast to face Cal State Monterey Bay.
