ROHNERT PARK, CALIF.- With the 2024-2025 regular season officially finished, a pair of Sonoma State Women's Basketball players have earned recognition as some of the top players in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
Senior guard Jayme Blackard came into the year having been named a member of the CCAA 2023-2024 Honorable Mention team. For her final season inside the Wolves Den she put together a well rounded statline including 11.6 points per game and a career best 4.7 rebounds a night. Blackard was also one of the top perimeter defenders in the conference finishing in the top 10 for both total steals and steals per game. The Seawolves starting point guard saved some of her best basketball for the home stretch, having reached double figures in scoring in six of her team's final seven games. Overall, Blackard finished second on the team in total rebounds and total points while leading her squad in total assists and total steals. All of this production saw Blackard earn a spot on the 2nd Team All-Conference squad.
Alongside Blackard, fellow starting guard Alysa Lopez made quite the impression during her first season in the CCAA. Lopez averaged a team leading 13.5 points a game while also pulling down four rebounds a game. Her ability to score at all three levels saw her land in the top 10 among all conference players in both total points and points per game. On five separate occasions she scored 20 or more points including reaching double figures in scoring in 16 conference games. With a top tier handle and ability to score at all three levels Lopez was not only named to the 2nd Team All-Conference list but was also named the CCAA's Newcomer of the Year!
These two have been huge driving forces in the Seawolves ability to clinch a spot in the postseason. With the fifth seed secured in the upcoming CCAA Conference Tournament, Blackard and Lopez will have their eyes set leading their team to even more wins and accolades! The Seawolves will open postseason play with a matchup against Cal State San Bernardino. Sonoma split the series with the Coyotes with each team winning on their respective home court. In the most recent game Blackard and Lopez combines to score 45 points and will be called upon once again as the team enters the "win or go home" portion of the year!
