Women's Soccer Comes Up Empty At Western

BELLINGHAM, Wash-  A disappointing trip to the Pacific Northwest came to an end on Monday afternoon as Sonoma State fell to Western Washington 1-0 in women's soccer action at Orca Field in Bellingham.  It was the second straight one-goal loss for the Seawolves as they see their record evened at 2-2-0 on the season.  The Vikings improve to 1-2-1.

The Seawolves picked up the loss despite out shooting the Vikings 15-10 in the contest.  Western's Emily Frankland found the game's only goal just 3:30 in to the contest.  After a long goal kick by WWU keeper Jamie Arthurs was flicked on by Molly Shannon at midfield, Frankland hit a low shot home from about 15 yards out.

The Seawolves had a number of good opportunities to tie, the final one coming in the 86th minute when Taylor Colacion had a clean header from seven yards out off a corner kick.  However, Arthurs was there to make the save and preserve the shutout.

Courtney Grixti made seven saves in goal for Sonoma.

The Seawolves will look to put an end to their two-game slide on Friday when they get their conference schedule underway at home against Cal State Stanislaus.
