Seawolves Fall To Coyotes, Lose Fifth Straight

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif- Sonoma State kept things close in the first half and took a one-point deficit into halftime at 31-30, but Cal State San Bernardino outscored the Seawolves 44-25 in the final 20 minutes of play, helping the Coyotes to prevail, 75-55, on Saturday night at Coussoulis Arena in San Bernardino. Sonoma State, completing one of the toughest road trips of the season, fell to 3-10 overall in 2-6 in CCAA play. Cal State San Bernardino goes to 5-1 in the conference and 7-3 overall.

Sonoma State led for most of the first half and took its largest lead of the game, 24-17, after a Patrick Scott layup at the 6:11 mark of the first half. However, Cal State San Bernardino nixed the Seawolf lead during a 14-7 run to end the first half, giving the Coyotes the 31-30 advantage.

Cal State San Bernardino wasted no time to pull away from Sonoma State after the halftime intermission, as the Coyotes went on a 31-9 run over the next 13-and-a-half minutes of the closing half, putting the game out of reach. The Coyotes eventually outscored the Seawolves 44-25 in the final 20 minutes to take the 20-point victory.

Scott led the Seawolves with 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor. Sophomore Mike Nelson added 10 for Sonoma State in the loss.

For the Coyotes, five players scored in double-figures including the 14 points of Bryan LeDuc.

Sonoma State will return home on Thursday to take on Cal State Stanislaus, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at The Wolves Den.
