SEASIDE, Calif-
Taylor Colacion scored two goals and the Sonoma State defense held Cal State Monterey Bay to just two shots en route to a commanding 4-0 victory over the Otters in the season finale for both teams in Seaside. The Seawolves finish their 2010 campaign at 4-9-4 overall and 3-9-4 in the CCAA. The Otters went 3-15 (2-14 CCAA) on the season.
Allison Kern got the scoring started for Sonoma State on Sunday, converting on a header from a cross by
Sara Studer at 20:59. Colacion then added a goal at 36:35 with a header from a cross by
Allie Maduell, giving the Seawolves a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Following the intermission, Colacion wasn't finished. She scored her third goal of the season at 59:33 when she possessed a rebound from a shot off the cross bar by Studer and fired it past Cal State Monterey Bay goalkeeper Andrea Davis for the comfortable 3-0 lead.
Jaci Davey got in on the scoring act, putting the Otters away with Sonoma State's fourth goal of the day at 82:51 on a ball from Kern.
The Seawolves outshot the Otters 12-2 in the match, holding CSUMB to the lowest attempted shot total by an opponent since SSU held the Otters to just two shots on Oct. 16 of last season. Colacion and Kern each attempted four shots.
The final game of the season featured four goals scored by Sonoma State, something that came at a premium this season. The Seawolves were shutout in 12 games this season, the most in program history. The last time SSU scored four or more goals in a game was back on Oct. 24, 2008 at Cal State Monterey Bay when Sonoma State won 5-1.
The Seawolves finished fourth in the CCAA North Division standings this season.
