Bisordi's 22 Paces Seawolves To 75-68 Win At CSULA

Jaclyn Bisordi led the Seawolves to a win in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Box Score: Sonoma State 75, Cal State L.A. 68

LOS ANGELES- Jaclyn Bisordi scored a career-high 22 points, including ten from the free throw line and Aly Conway chipped in with 17 points and eight rebounds to lead Sonoma State to a 75-68 victory over Cal State L.A. on Saturday night at the Eagles Nest. With the win, the Seawolves improve to 6-10 overall and 4-8 in CCAA play. The Golden Eagles fall to 6-10 on the season and 3-9 in conference action.

Bisordi scored eight of Sonoma State's first 19 points, helping the Seawolves out to a large 19-8 lead just seven minutes into the ballgame. It began what would be a big night from the floor for SSU, as the team shot 43.8 percent from the floor (14-32) in the opening period. That, coupled with a large advantage on the glass (a 23-14 lead in rebounds), paced the Seawolves to a 36-25 lead at halftime.

A made free throw by Elizabeth Day with 14 minutes remaining in regulation extended the Seawolf lead to their largest of the contest, a 20-point margin at 47-27. Sonoma State again led by 20 two minutes later after a three pointer by Oly Larkin, but Cal State L.A. would begin chipping away from that point on.

Though the Seawolves held a double-digit lead for much of the second half, the Golden Eagles would get to within nine points at 62-53 with three and a half minutes left. The margin would then trim to just five points at 63-58 with 2:30 remaining on the scoreboard.

Facing full court pressure, Sonoma State managed to fight through the defense and Aly Henington put the Seawolves up eight with a three pointer at the 2:19 mark, then Bisordi knocked down two free throws to go up by double-digits again.

As they showed late in the second half, Cal State L.A. wouldn't go away. A three ball by Erika Ruiz with 15 ticks left closed the gap to six points at 74-68, but the clock would favor Sonoma State and Bisordi's 22nd point of the night sealed the victory for the Seawolves, their second in the last four games.

Henington and Larkin also scored in double figures for the Seawolves, both dropping in 11. Sonoma State led the rebounding fight (41-39) while continuing its hot hand from the field, shooting 45.8 percent (22-48), its second-best output this season. SSU held CSULA to just 33.8 percent shooting on 24 of 71.

Cal State L.A. was led by the 19 points of Lacy Ramon and 15 of Ruiz.

Sonoma State will return home for a four-game homestand, beginning with a Thursday matchup against UC San Diego at The Wolves' Den in Rohnert Park. The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
