BOX SCORE:  Cal State San Bernardino 52, Sonoma State 45

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  A valiant comeback attempt in the second half came up just short on Saturday evening as the Sonoma State women's basketball team dropped a 52-45 decision to Cal State San Bernardino in CCAA action at The Wolves' Den in Rohnert Park.  The loss is the eighth in nine games since a 3-0 start to the season for the Seawolves as they go to 4-8, 2-6 CCAA.  The Coyotes continue their impressive start at 9-1, 5-1 CCAA.

Sonoma State struggled through a miserable start to the game as they dug themselves an 11-2 deficit after six and a half minutes.  The Coyotes' lead would swell to as many as 15 at 30-15 and 32-17 before a late run by the Seawolves got it into single digits at the break, 32-23.

Echoing the Seawolves' slow start in the first half, the Coyotes would go cold at the beginning of the second as a 9-3 run got the lead down to two (35-33) with 14:50 left.  Sonoma would narrow the gap to one at the 5:35 mark when Aly Henington connected on a pair of free throws, but five quick points by CSUSB's Amber Glasser gave the Coyotes a bit of cushion again.

Despite the cold start to the second half, the Coyotes hardly missed down the stretch, going 4-for-5 from the field and 2-for-2 from the free throw line in the final five minutes.

Glasser led all players with 20 points in the game on 8-of-16 shooting.  She was joined in double figures by Eisha Sheppard, who pitched in 12 off the bench.  Sierra Chess grabbed seven rebounds and Sabrina Gonzalez led the Coyotes with three assists.

Sonoma State was led by Aly Conway, who had nine points and eight rebounds, all of them coming in the second half. Jaclyn Bisordi and Kristina Fahey also had nine points and Aly Henington emerged from the bench for seven points and seven boards.

The Seawolves will continue their quest for their first home win of the season next Thursday when they host longtime nemesis San Francisco State.  Tipoff is set for 5:30 pm.
