ROHNERT PARK, Calif- On an 0-2 pitch with two outs and runners on second and third, Cameron Cook delivered a soft liner that glanced off the top of the outstretched glove of Cal State L.A. second baseman Brian Moon, who jumped as high in the air as he could, giving Sonoma State the 3-2 walkoff victory in ten innings on Friday at Seawolf Diamond. The win moves the 11th-ranked Seawolves to 12-2 overall and 7-2 in CCAA play. The Golden Eagles fall to 15-6 and 10-3.

It didn't take long for Sonoma State to take the early lead in the contest. Three straight singles through the left side of the infield started the bottom of the first. It was O'Koyea Dickson's single between the short stop and third baseman that scored Steven Filippi from second, putting SSU up 1-0. Randy Wells then came through with a RBI single to center field, plating Alex Todd to take the 2-0 lead.

Thomas Lee took control of the mound from the first pitch, allowing just three hits through five scoreless innings. It was in the top of the sixth inning that Cal State L.A. was finally able to break through with a run -- a sacrifice fly by Moon, scoring Joe Park, who led off the inning with a double. In the seventh, the Golden Eagles tied the game up at 2-2 after a RBI groundout by Manny Acosta, scoring Jordan Castro.

In the Seawolves next at bat, CSULA starting pitcher Wally Goodline, who threw 127 pitches in the 7.2 innings of work, loaded the bases with two outs, but forced Dickson to fly out to deep left field to end the threat. Sonoma State had another shot to score the go-ahead run in the eighth, but left two runners on.

After three quick half innings, Sonoma State got consecutive one-out singles by Kyle Jones and Wells, both of which stole third and second bases, respectively, on a swinging strikeout by Kevin Cramer. With runners on second and third and two outs, that's when Cook sent the Seawolves into celebration with a soft liner to Moon at second base, but Moon couldn't quite come down with the out after a spiderman-like leap into the air.

Joey Van Cleave (2-0), who came on in relief of Lee in the eighth, earned the victory after tossing the final 2.1 innings. He allowed just one hits, one walk while striking out two. Lee scattered six hits, gave up the two Cal State L.A. runs, walked one and struckout seven. Jones and Wells went 2 for 5 in the contest.

For Cal State L.A., Cliff Quick led the way offensively, going 2 for 4, accounting for two of the seven hits by the Golden Eagles. Jacob Valenzuela (4-2) was tagged with the loss after giving up the game-winner. He went the final two innings, giving up three hits while striking out four. Goodline walked three and struck out six Seawolves.

Sonoma State and Cal State L.A. will resume its four-game series on Saturday with a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Seawolf Diamond. The two teams will then wrap up the four-game set on Sunday with a single game at 11 a.m.
