O'Koyea Dickson accounted for four Sonoma State runs on Sunday.
Box Score: Cal Poly Pomona 8, #15 Sonoma State 5

POMONA, Calif- O'Koyea Dickson went 3 for 5 with three RBI and two runs scored, but Sonoma State was unable to overcome a 7-0 deficit, losing 8-5 to Cal Poly Pomona in the final game for the four-game series in Pomona. The Seawolves, who opened the 2011 season with 11 straight wins, have now lost two straight, falling to 11-2 overall and 6-2 in the CCAA. The Broncos move to 12-6 and 6-6.

Cal Poly Pomona got the scoring started with a pair of sacrifice flies in the bottom of the second inning to take the 2-0 lead over Sonoma State starting pitcher Joshua Nervis. In the fifth inning, Nervis gave up a RBI single to Jordan Whitman, before being replaced by Jacob Fiss. Fiss then surrendered a two-RBI double to Jenzen Torres as the Broncos went up 5-0. Joey Van Cleave replaced Fiss three batters later, only to give up a two-RBI single to Scott Vincent and CPP took a large 7-0 lead.

Dickson then kick started the Seawolves comeback attempt, leading off the sixth inning with a single. He later scored on a throwing error by Pomona third baseman Mike Santora. After a scoreless seventh inning, Cameron Cook came through with a RBI infield single, scoring Kyle Jones to cut the lead to five at 7-2.

However, the Broncos brought home another run on another sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth to go up 8-2. In the ninth, the last chance for Sonoma State, Dickson hit his team-leading fifth home run of the season, a three-run shot to left field, scoring Alex Todd and Steven Filippi. It would be all the Seawolves would get as Geoff Broussard came in, following the Dickson home run, to retire the three batters he faced and earn his first save of the season.

Randy Wells and Kyle Cerrudo had two hits for the Seawolves, complementing Dickson's three. Nervis (2-1) was tagged with the loss, his first of the season.

Ryan Goodman, Torres and Tyson Edwards combined for six of the nine Bronco hits on Sunday afternoon. Torres and Vincent both brought home two runs in the victory.

Sonoma State will now return home to host Cal State L.A. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Seawolf Diamond. First pitch on Friday is set for 2 p.m.
