Just as they did in Monday's nightcap, the Wildcats put a run up on the scoreboard first on a first-and-third situation when Diana Payan forced a throw to second, allowing Britt Wright to score before Payan was eventually tagged out in a rundown.
Down 1-0, Sonoma State finally woke its bats up when
Skylynn Myers led the inning off with a double and an advancement to third on the bobble by the right fielder Wright.
Rochelle Vanyi then singled up the middle that scored Myers to knot the game at 1-1.
Brittanie Verissimo then bunted Vanyi over to second before Vanyi stole third and came home on the throwing error by catcher Hailey Stockman, giving SSU the 2-1 lead.
Chico State would get the run back a half inning later when Payan reached on an error by
Kayla Ledford, allowing Wright to score.
However, Ledford would make up for the error with a RBI single in the bottom of the fifth, scoring
Tatiana Pizarro from second, who pinch ran for
Ali Palermo. Palermo doubled to start the inning. The Seawolves led 3-2.
After
Julianne Martinez worked herself out of a jam in the sixth, she put two runners on via the walk in the top of the seventh, giving way to
Ciara Becerril. Becerril surrendered a single to Sam Baker to load the bases, but struckout Rachel Failla for the second out of the inning. With the bases still loaded, Becerril forced Jackie Munoz to pop up foul behind home plate and Myers made the catch against the fence to end the ball game.
Both teams scattered five hits in the contest, as Chico's Baker led the way with two hits. Baker (17-5) was tagged with her second loss of the series. She gave up all five SSU hits, three runs (one earned) while walking two and striking out four.
Martinez (8-5) earned the victory after six and a thirds innings pitched. She allowed four hits, two unearned runs, walked six and struckout three. Becerril got her second save of the season.

It was all Wildcats in the final game of the four-game series after falling in the first three. Chico State got 11 hits in the first four innings off SSU starter
Samantha Lipperd, including four runs. Lipperd walked one and struckout four.
Chico State scored a pair of runs in the first -- one on an error by
Danielle Lowe in center field then on a bases loaded illegal pitch call. The Wildcats then tacked on one more in the second on a Payan RBI double. They would get one more off Lipperd (18-6) in the fourth before she was lifted from the game.
Becerill came on and allowed two more runs in the final two innings as the Wildcats cruised to the 6-0 win.
All in all, Chico State scattered 15 total hits and left 11 runners on base. Sam Quadt, Stockman and Taylor Hanamaikai had three hits apiece in the victory.
