Kyle Jones went a perfect 5 for 5 with two runs scored and a RBI as
Kendall Davis and
Connor Smith earned victories on the mound, helping Sonoma State to a Saturday sweep of San Francisco State at Seawolf Diamond in Rohnert Park. The Seawolves have taken the first three games of the series, improving to 26-11 overall and 19-11 in the CCAA. The Gators fall to 12-27 and 7-24.
#28 Sonoma State 6, San Francisco State 4
O'Koyea Dickson got the ball rolling for Sonoma State on Saturday, smashing the first pitch he saw over the left field fence, scoring
Kevin Cramer to put the Seawolves up 2-0. The Gators came right back in their next at bat with two runs on a sacrifice fly by Kevin Dultz and then a single by Thomas Wood to knot the game at 2-2.
In the third,
Alex Todd singled home Cramer before Jones singled home Todd on consecutive at bats to give SSU starter
Kendall Davis a 4-2 cushion. SF State would get a run back in the sixth on a RBI groundout by Andrew Suvunnachuen, but Davis ended his six innings of work to force a fly out by Trevor Pasiecznik to end the sixth.
Leading by a run, 4-3, in the bottom half of the sixth, the Seawolves plated two more runs on RBI's by
Ryan Morales and
Steven Filippi.
On came
Ian Ocon to replace Davis at the beginning of the seventh as he allowed four hits and a run in the ninth, earning the save and helping SSU win, 6-4. Davis (2-3) got the victory, allowing five hits and three runs in six innings of work. He walked two and struckout four.
Offensively for Sonoma State, Dickson, Todd, Jones and Morales all had two of the 11 hits, as the Seawolves outhit the Gators by a narrow 11-9 margin. Cramer scored two runs and Dickson, on his first inning two-run deep fly, had two RBI.

It was all Sonoma State in game two, as Smith (2-1) and
Phil Liniger combined on a four-hit shutout and Jones went 3 for 3 with a run scored.
The Seawolves got two runs across the plate in the second on RBI's by
Randy Wells and Justin Cerrao, putting SSU up 2-0. Then, in the fourth Filippi knocked Serrao home before Filippi came home on a monster blast by Cramer to give the Seawolves th 5-0 lead and eventual win.
SSU got ten hits in the nightcap led by the three of Jones and two of Serrao. Smith gave up two hits, walked three and struckout three while Liniger, who recorded his first save of the season, scattered two hits and struckout two.
Sonoma State and San Francisco State will wrap up the four-game series on Sunday at Maloney Field in San Francisco. First pitch is scheduled for Noon.
