Cameron Cook got things started with a leadoff single, then a walk to Kevin Cramer, followed by another single by Dickson. Alex Todd would bring home Cook after he was hit by the pitch and then Jones singled home Cramer and Dickson to lead 3-0. Randy Wells put another run up on the scoreboard on a RBI groundout that plated Todd, giving SSU the 4-0 before CSUMB grabbed a bat.

The Otters had their chance to put some runs up on the board in their half of the first, loading the bases against Joey Van Cleave, who gave up a single and two walks. He got out of the jam, though, forcing a groundout.

Dickson added a run for the Seawolves in the second on a double, scoring Cramer and Sonoma State led 5-0.

It was in the bottom of the second when Cal State Monterey Bay began making its comeback, scoring three runs to trail by two at 5-3. Another run in the third put the Otters down one run, but the Seawolves plated three more runs in the top of the fourth to jump back out to a four-run lead at 8-4. The offensive flurry continued in the Otter fourth when Danny Nelson tripled and later came home on a groundout.

After a solo shot by Steven Filippi in the sixth to put SSU up 9-5, the scoring would cease until the Seawolves again put up three runs in the eighth to take a commanding 12-5 lead and the eventual victory.

Cook, Cramer, Todd, Jones and Filippi had two hits apiece to complement Dickson's four safeties, as Sonoma State outhit Cal State Monterey Bay 15-7. Ian Ocon (3-4) earned the victory, tossing five innings in relief, allowing four hits, two runs, two walks while striking out four.
