First Three Games:  Sonoma State has gone 1-2 in their first three games of the 2012-13 campaign.  In their home opener against the University of Mary, the Seawolves came up just short of a come-from-behind victory in a 65-68 loss on Nov. 17.  A home-and-home series with San Francisco State followed with both teams winning in their home arenas to start the CCAA regular season.

Scouting Cal State Monterey Bay:  The Otters, preseason favorites to win the CCAA title, completed a 21-9, 15-7 CCAA season last year, earning them a spot in the conference tournament.  Cal State Monterey Bay was able to sweep the season series against the Seawolves, which included a 64-59 overtime victory in The Kelp Bed.  Despite winning the last seven games against the Seawolves, Sonoma State holds a slight lead the all-time series, 10-8.  The Otters have kicked off their season with a 2-0 record, defeating Notre Dame de Namur and Sheppard University by a combined score of 125-96.  Senior guard Stephanie Corgel leads the Otters, averaging 12.5 points per game.

Scouting Cal State East Bay:  The Pioneers have participated in four pre-conference games, coming out victorious in two competitions.  Having lost two of their first four games, Cal State East Bay has dominated in the games in which they have won.  The Pioneers walloped Dominican (58-36) and Alaska Fairbanks (84-48) to give them a 2-2 record early on.  CSU East Bay and Sonoma State split the season series in 2011-12 with each team winning on the road.  The Pioneers finished the season with a 12-17 record overall and a 9-13 mark in conference play, allowing them the program's first CCAA tournament bid.  Senior forward Lauren Lucchesi leads the way for the Pioneers, averaging 13.8 points per game through the team's first four games.

Saturday Afternoon Vigil:  The tryptophan did not slow down senior guard Taylor Vigil as she was a perfect 12 for 12 from the floor, accumulating a career-high 24 points this past Saturday afternoon against San Francisco State, earning her CCAA Player of the Week honors.  Vigil's 24 points makes her the leading scorer on the team, averaging 13.8 points per game.  The Brentwood, Calif. native was the leading scorer in both games against San Francisco State this season and leads the conference in field goal percentage, hitting 61.3 percent of her shots.

Newcomers:  With the graduation of former Seawolves Jaclyn Bisordi, Aly Conway, and Aly Henington, the Sonoma State has welcomed a plethora of new talent onto the team.  Head coach Mark Rigby has brought in six new freshmen, as well as junior transfer Jamie Capoot.  Four of the six freshmen have seen playing time in the early season, combining for 29 points off the bench.  Capoot, however, has been a solid sixth man, dropping 21 points through three games.  Although her playing days are over, Bisordi continues to be an impact on the bench as a student assistant for Sonoma State.

Seawolves' Notes:  After earning the eight seed in the 2012 CCAA Championship Tournament, Sonoma State faced an early exit at the hands UC San Diego, the top-ranked team in the nation at the time.  With an 11-16 record overall and a 9-13 mark in conference play last season, the Seawolves look to make a return trip to the conference tournament for the second straight year.  Senior center Elizabeth Day is second on the team in scoring, averaging 20.3 points per game and senior guard Alysa Ito has given out a team-leading 13 assists in three games.
