Softball Sweeps Opening Day Of Desert Stinger In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS
-- Thanks to timely hitting, defense and pitching, the Sonoma State softball team earned a pair of victories on Friday night, including a 6-3 win over Central Washington and a convincing 7-2 win over eighth-ranked Augustana, to highlight day one of the MSUB Desert Stinger at Majestic Park in Las Vegas, Nev.  Ciara Becerril and Samantha Lipperd each posted victories in the pitching circle, helping the Seawolves to a perfect 4-0 record to start the 2012 season.

Sonoma State will look to continue its winning ways with a pair of games against Academy of Art (11:30 a.m.) and Metro State (2:00 p.m.) on Saturday.  The tournament will conclude on Sunday (Feb. 12) when the Seawolves face Western Washington.
