Jeff Boulware also scored on the play as result of a throwing error by first baseman Drew Rodela. CSUDH got on the board in the third on a two-RBI double by Mathew Young, which would knot it up at 2-2.
Stogner was hit by the pitch to lead off the Sonoma State third. After a bunt single from Boulware and
Steven Filippi was able to reach on a fielder's choice, moving Stogner to third,
Garrett Gooselaw hit an RBI single up the middle to score Stogner and give the Seawolves the lead, 3-2.
The Toros tied it in the fourth once again off of a two-RBI single to left center by Chris Vopinek scored Matt Akiyama and Brian Gregory. The game remained tied at three until Cal State Dominguez Hills gained their first lead of the game on a squeeze bunt attempt by Vopinek to bring home Devon Ramirez. However, SSU would come right back to score two in the bottom of the sixth.
Justin Serrao earned an RBI as he knocked in Zenn with a single to left field.
With the bases loaded CSUDH catcher, Gregory, attempted a pick-off throw down to third to get
Kyle Cerrudo, but airmailed the throw as it went over the head of Vopinek and into the bullpen allowing Cerrudo to score and take the lead for the Seawolves, 5-4.
In the CSUDH seventh, Ricky Vasquez got the call to pinch hit for the Toros and ripped a leadoff double down the right field line. Vasquez came into score two batters later on a single from Brian Oda to tie it up at five apiece.
The eighth inning began with a walk to
Joel Thys and
Evan Warner being hit by the pitch. Serrao walked and was followed by a walk to Stogner giving Stogner the go-ahead RBI, the easy way. Filippi hit a sacrifice fly to center field scoring Serrao and Gooselaw struck out swinging to end the inning.

Game Two: Sonoma State 4, Cal State Dominguez Hills 3 -- Box Score | Archived Audio Broadcast
Getting the start for Sonoma State in game two was the junior transfer,
Taylor Herbert, who pitched six strong innings, giving up the only three runs for the Toros, striking out three CSUDH batters.
All three runs came off Herbert in the first inning, as he was not fooling anyone. Cal State Dominguez Hills got through eight of their nine batters in the first inning, scoring on a double from Rodela and a single from Ray Patchen. Patchen would also come around to score on Herbert's only wild pitch in the game to put Sonoma State in a 3-0 hole early on.
Sonoma State threatened in the second with two runners in scoring position and two outs. However, the Seawolves were unable to plate a run as Boulware struck out looking to end the inning, stranding the runners.
SSU would get another chance to narrow the deficit in the third inning with the bases loaded and one out when Zenn hit a fielder's choice to shortstop, driving in Serrao to put the Seawolves on the board. Gooselaw would be hit by the pitch to reload the bases, but
Garret Schwartz flied out to center field to end the inning.
No noise from either team until the Sonoma State struck in the bottom of the sixth. Zenn led of the inning with a single that got through the 3-4 hole and into right field. Gooselaw followed him with a booming home run on 3-1 fastball from Matt Montgomery that cleared the left field fence and tied the game at 3-3.
With Schwartz on first after a walk, Boulware hit the ball sharply to second base. Schwartz running on the pitch negated an option to get the easy out at second and kept running on the hit and got to third. A throwing error from Matt Akiyama allowed Boulware to advance to second. Boulware was granted third base as the overthrown ball went into the Seawolves' dugout, and Schwartz was granted home plate, scoring the winning run.
One run was all the Seawolves needed as
Glen Wallace came in to get the one-inning save, his first of the year.
Herbert got the win for the Seawolves and went to 2-1 on the season. Matt Montgomery pitched just 3.1 innings in relief, but was charged with loss giving up three runs, two earned.
Four Seawolves had hits as Gooselaw had two RBI's on his two-run homer, his sixth of the season. He also scored a run. Cal State Dominguez Hills had seven hits in the game and were spread evenly around seven different players. Vasquez, Rodela, and Patchen scored runs for the Toros.
