ROHNERT PARK, Calif.
-- Center fielder Danielle D'Eccliss threw out a runner at home plate on a bases loaded single in the sixth inning of game one, preventing visiting Cal State Stanislaus to score the go-ahead run and keep the game tied at 1-1.  It would prove to be the game-saving out as Hayley Condon gave host Sonoma State a thrilling walkoff 3-1 victory in the bottom of the eighth with a two-run home run to left field.  The Seawolves followed it with a 2-0 win in game two, thanks to a solo home run by Megan Konieczka and a one-hit shutout by Samantha Lipperd, completing Saturday's doubleheader sweep of the Warriors at the Seawolf Softball Field in Rohnert Park.

The win rises Sonoma State to 29-17 overall and 15-15 in the CCAA.  Cal State Stanislaus, meanwhile, falls to 15-36 and 6-22 in conference play.

Game 1:  Sonoma State 3, Cal State Stanislaus 1 (8 innings)

Both teams got off to a relatively slow start until the bottom of the third when Konieczka led off the inning with a walk.  Skylynn Myers sacrificed Konieczka to second, then a D'Eccliss groundout put Konieczka on third.  Ancia Purdy would then slap the ball deep into the hole at shortstop and Cal State Stanislaus' Brittany Rickles only play would be at home, but Konieczka would slide in for the game's first run.

Lipperd cruised right through the Warrior lineup, retiring the first 13 batters she saw.  It wasn't until the sixth when Cal State Stanislaus threatened offensively.  A hit by pitch and two walks would load the bases with two outs, setting the stage for what would be the play of the game.  Kristan Burns singled to center field, scoring Rachel Borges easily from third and Sarah Locarnini would round third and attempt home, but the throw from D'Eccliss would nail Locarnini at the plate to end the inning and keep the score tied at 1-1.  Lipperd would go on to allow one more hit the rest of the way, allowing the Sonoma State offense to come through later in the ballgame.

However, Warrior pitcher Brittany Weatherford kept the Seawolf bats quiet. In fact, she didn't allow a hit by SSU in fifth, sixth and seventh innings and the game would go to extra innings.

It was in the eighth that Vanessa Currie would reach base on a one-out single before Condon blasted the game-winning home run.  The hit would extend Condon's hitting streak to 15 games.  Lipperd allowed just two hits, one run and two walks, while striking out 11 batters.

Weatherford (8-15) was tagged with the loss, giving up the game-winner in the eighth; she allowed five hits, three runs and three walks, striking out six.

Game 2: Sonoma State 2, Cal State Stanislaus 0

A scoreless game through two innings, Konieczka broke the tie with a solo blast over the left center field fence.  Neither team would score again until the sixth when Shannon Kehr singled home Ali Palermo, who hit a two-out double to right field just before Kehr's at bat.  The two runs would prove to be enough as Lipperd was her normal dominant self, taking a no-hitter into the seventh.  She didn't allow her first hit until there was one out in the top of the seventh; an infield single by CSUS' Vanessa Del Toro that hit the third base bag.

Lipperd (24-10) struckout another 10 batters, totaling 21 on the day and 315 on the season.  Offensively, Sonoma State managed just four hits, two of which came off the bat of Kehr.

Cal State Stanislaus starter Natalie Rendon walked one and struckout one, falling to 5-15 on the season.

Sonoma State and Cal State Stanislaus will wrap up the series on Sunday with a doubleheader, starting at 12:00 p.m.  It will be Senior Day at the Seawolf Softball Field on Sunday and two Seawolves, Shannon Kehr and Skylynn Myer, will be honored in a pre-game ceremony, starting at approximately 11:40 a.m.
