BOX SCORE #15 Sonoma State 3, Cal State Dominguez Hills 1 -- Box Score
ROHNERT PARK -- Melissa Lafranchi continued her success in finding the net on Sunday, scoring her third and fourth goals of the weekend to lead the 15th-ranked Sonoma State women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday afternoon. The Seawolves rise to 7-1-2 overall and 5-1-2 in the CCAA. Meanwhile, the Toros fall to 4-5-1 and 3-4-1 in conference play.
Lafranchi, who scored both goals in Friday's 3-2 loss, gave SSU the 1-0 lead at 34:12 after corralling a rebound off of a

The Toros battled back and cut the Seawolf lead in half at 63:06 when Alexandria Gambala headed in a pass from Olivia Patterson. However, Sonoma State continued to put the offensive pressure on Cal State Dominguez Hills and eventually scored the insurance goal with 1:07 left in regulation when Lafranchi struck again for the 3-1 lead and win.
At the final whistle, Sonoma State held significant advantages on the stat sheet, firing 16 shots to Cal State Dominguez Hills' four. Twelve of SSU's 16 shots were on target, forcing CSUDH goalkeeper Jennifer Ackerly to make nine saves. Only one of the Toros' four attempts were on goal -- the goal by Gambala in the 64th minute.
A sophomore this season having played in 26 career matches, Lafranchi has scored four of her five career goals this weekend.
Sonoma State will continue its homestand on Friday when it plays host to Cal State Monterey Bay as part of the Homecoming festivities. Kickoff between the Seawolves and Otters is set for 4:00 pm at the Seawolf Soccer Field.
