BOX SCORE Sonoma State 4, Grand Canyon 0 -- Box Score

LAS VEGAS --
Megan Konieczka delivered a bases-clearing double in the second inning three batters after Keisi Chinen brought home the first run of the ballgame with an RBI single and Samantha Lipperd tossed a complete game, five-hit shutout with eight strikeouts as the Sonoma State softball team wrapped up the MSUB Desert Stinger with a 4-0 win over Grand Canyon on Sunday in Las Vegas.

The Seawolves, who went 3-2 this weekend, will head into CCAA play against San Francisco State on Friday with a 5-2 record.  Grand Canyon (9-2) lost for just the second time in 2013, snapping an eight-game win streak.

After nine straight batters were retired, Hayley Condon became the first base runner of the ballgame with a leadoff single in the bottom of the second.  Ali Palermo moved Condon over to second with a sacrifice bunt, then Chinen brought home Condon with a single up the middle to give Sonoma State the 1-0 lead.  Samantha Beauchamp drew a two-out walk, followed by an Ally Bryant single, loaded the bases for the Seawolves , setting up Konieczka's three-run double for the 4-0 lead.

Grand Canyon threatened in its half of the fourth inning with three straight singles, but Lipperd struckout two batters and got a force out at home, which left the bases loaded.  It would be the final scoring opportunity for the Antelopes as Lipperd allowed only one more base runner the rest of the way.

Meanwhile, GCU's Stephanie Pesqueira settled down after the four-run second inning by SSU, holding the Seawolves to just one hit in the final four frames, but it would be Lipperd to shutdown the Antelope offense to secure the win.

In the five-game tournament, Condon led the way offensively for Sonoma State, going 7 for 15 at the plate with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored while Currie went 6 for 15 with a pair of two-baggers, two home runs, six RBI and six runs scored.  As a team, the Seawolves averaged .348 (47 for 135), holding opponents to a .279 clip (38-136).

Sonoma State hosts San Francisco State to open the CCAA schedule on Friday.  First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
